I made a hardcover book of ‘My Mom’s Blog’ using Blurb.com. The book came out great and my mom loved it. I had two problems. The first is that you can’t do a global search and replace on the text from within the Blurb booksmart software. The second problem is that once you edit your book with the blurb booksmart software, you can’t save it as a clean PDF without the blurb branding.

http://Ryans1.com How to Install a WordPress Blog Hi my name is Ryan and welcome to my video on how to create a wordpress blog. On this video, I presume you already have a domain and Web hosting. So the next step is to get a couple of more things. The first is to download the files for your blog from the wordpress website. By going to wordpress.org And hit download. It will take you to a page where you can download WordPress 2.7, which is the latest wordpress platform. Download this to your computer, and you can unzip that into a folder. That will put all of the files you need for your blog onto your computer. Now, the next thing you need to do is get this on to the Internet. So you need an FTP program to upload those files, I used filezilla. You can get for free by typing the FileZilla into Google. It’s the first result that comes up in Google, and you want to download the FileZilla client. On that page it will be the first one under Windows FileZilla-3.1.6-win-32-setup. Once you have FileZilla and all your word press files. You will want to log into your hosting account and create a database to hold your new blog. Log into your account and create a new database. It may look different depending on what Web hosting company you use. It will ask you to create a database description database user name and enter a password for the database. Once you have created a database go back to the word press files on your computer and look for wp-config-sample, now renamed that file to remove sample from the end so that file reads just w-p-config. Now double-click on it and open in notepad, and change the database name user name and password by copying and pasting from where you set up your database in your control panel to the exact same database name and password that you used to create the database. When you create your database, you will also get a local host name that you can copy and paste here too. Next log into FileZilla and locate the directory where you saved the word press files. Estoy aquí para presentar el blog para webmasters en español.
Estoy encantado de presentarlo junto a Matt Cutts, un ingeniero de software que trabaja aquí en Google con nosotros.
Una de las frases que se pueden encontrar en Internet sobre él dice:
“Es un ingeniero de Google que está muy de moda y cae simpático”.
Es probable que mucha gente ya le conozca, porque tiene un blog donde comparte mucho de lo que sabe con todos:

[Alvar] [inglés] En qué estabas pensando la primera vez que quisiste empezar un blog? Que ideas tenias al principio?
[Matt] Claro, wow, volver atrás en el tiempo… 2005. Fue en SES San Jose, Search Engine Strategies,
y yo estaba en la sala de conferencias. Danny Sullivan estaba aquí, Brett Tabke estaba aquí,
uno de los miembros de WebmasterWorld.
Y fue bastante divertido, porque ya tenía el sitio web preparado desde hacía meses, y me daba un poco de miedo
darle al botón de “publicar” para empezar.
Pero uno de los motivos principales para hacer un blog era poder tener control sobre mis palabras.
Porque si dejas un comentario en algún sitio de la web, nunca sabes qué va a pasar con él.
Quizá la página se caiga, quizá alguien la edite, o quizá alguien la quite por cualquier motivo.
Pero si está en tu propio dominio, tienes capacidad de decir cualquier cosa que quieras decir
y cómo quieres decirla. Así que me dije: “Sabes? vamos a probar y ver cómo funciona esto”.
Y ha sido muy divertido.
[Alvar] Y de qué hablas en tu blog? Explícanos un poco para la gente que no lo conoce.
[Matt] Sí, claro. Sobretodo cosas de webmasters. Sabes, oficialmente digo: “Google, gadgets y SEO”,
y no hablo demasiado de gadgets, aunque a veces me gusta. Pero si la gente tiene preguntas sobre Google,
sabes? tiene un enlace .edu mas peso que uno .com en cuanto a PageRank?
y la gente tiene todo tipo de preguntas como esas. Y lo que decimos es: vamos a intentar tener un sitio
donde contestar esas preguntas. Y recientemente hemos tenido más sitios: No solo está mi blog personal,
también hay un blog oficial de Google para webmasters en inglés, que es fantástico, porque así la gente no tiene
que depender de “Oh, bueno, y qué si sólo es Matt hablando de cualquier cosa?” Y es incluso más interesante
el blog para webmasters en español, porque ahora la gente puede leer todo eso en su propia lengua. Y así
pueden decir: “Aquí está, información de primera mano” Que está muy bien.
